About

Who We Are

Our mandate is to provide unbiased, science-based opinions, giving our customers the opportunity to plan according to their best interests along with the knowledge acquired.

Talmack Urban Forestry is an independent firm that specializes in arboricultural and horticultural consulting. Our team of consultants regularly attend training seminars to keep on top of the latest scientific discoveries and technological advances in diagnostic equipment. In doing so, we provide our clients with comprehensive science-based solutions to inform all their tree and landscape decisions. We proudly employ consultants who are International Society of Arboriculture certified and Tree Risk Assessment Qualified so our clients can be confident that their trees are being assessed by professionals who are trained to uphold a high standard of safety and ethics.

We take a common sense approach to tree-related projects. We are neither for the trees nor against them; our goal is simply to provide our customers with clear, unbiased information so they can make informed decisions that are in their best interest. We have been a trusted resource in Victoria since 2004, and we pride ourselves on staying up to date with changing tree preservation by-laws, procedures, and reporting standards for local municipalities. By staying informed and knowledgeable, we are able to provide our clients with the most current and accurate information, helping them to navigate complex regulations and make the best choices for their trees and the surrounding environment.

Healthy mature trees not only increase your property value, but provide irreplaceable beauty and shade.

How It Started

Talmack Urban Forestry was founded in 2004 by Tom Talbot and Graham Mackenzie through a mutual appreciation of trees in the urban environment.

Talmack Urban Forestry’s co-founders Tom Talbot and Graham Mackenzie met in Victoria in the early 90s while working as residential arborists. Their mutual appreciation and respect of trees in the urban environment led to a pursuit of the consulting field, and by May 2004 Talbot Mackenzie & Associates was established as an independent consulting firm dedicated to serving the community through a knowledge base of education and experience. They now lead a team of consultants who carry on the mandate of providing science-based explanations to fulfill all of their clientele’s tree and horticultural needs.
